Hi! My name is Jen Price. I am the Director of College Ministries in the Southern California FCA Camp Office. I have 3 major responsibilities: 1 - Directing the UCSB Campus Ministry 2 - Recruiting, training, and building relationship with the college athletes who serve as Huddle Leaders at our Camps. 3 - Ministry to Coaches in my area. I have been on staff with FCA since March of 2002. Prior to serving with FCA I spent 9 years coaching basketball at the Division I college level with stints at Ball State University, North Carolina State University, San Diego State University, and Penn State University. I even had the opportunity to go to the 2000 Final Four in Philadelphia with my Penn State Lady Lions! We finished 3rd in the country that year!
While a student at Taylor University I played 4 years of varsity softball, stretching my four year degree into 5 years! A fun fact about my softball career ... in my four years at Taylor I played every position with the exception of pitcher and 1st base in a game situation! I was one of the players that was not outstanding at any position, but competent in most of them (I think we called them "utility players"). I graduated from Taylor in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Eduation for physical education, math and health.
Coaching basketball provided me with many unique opportunities, including traveling the many places in the United States and the world, achieving some great career success, and meeting many famous athletes and coachings. I had the opportunity to understand and experience first-hand the pressures athlets and coaches face every day. This understanding is so valuable as I work with athletes and coaches every day.
I love my life in Santa Barbara! I'm very active in Santa Barbara Community Church, serving as a Homegroup Leader and a member of the prayer team. I am also taking classes towards my Masters of Theology from Fuller Seminary. I am the proud owner of a beagle puppy, Zakar "Zak" Lutron Price. His name, in the most loose translation between Hebrew and Greek, means "remember the redemption price." I spend most of my days on or near the UCSB campus meeting with athletes and coaches. If I am not there, I can often be spotted zipping around town on my little yellow scooter or studying in one of my many favorite coffee shops!
